SEC Charges Two Unlicensed Broker-Dealers

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged two companies with unregistered broker activity related to the EB-5 program. The SEC charges allege the companies brokered over $79 million in EB-5 investments by acting as unregistered brokers through their website. The website solicited EB-5 investors by promising to help them select an EB-5 regional center. It is alleged that these two companies directed their investors to a select number of regional centers which paid them a commission per investor once the USCIS approved the investor’s EB-5 petition.
